Buyer and seller protection

Lotzo is built so that neither side has to trust a stranger. Here's what each of you can count on.

Draft, under legal review. This page describes how Lotzo works today and may change before launch. Last updated October 23, 2026.

If you're buying

  • You're only charged if you win. Saving a card to bid costs nothing.
  • The seller isn't paid when you pay. Your money is held by Stripe until you've picked the item up.
  • You decide when the handover happens. Only show your 6-digit code once you've checked the item.
  • 48 hours to report a problem. If the item isn't as described, report it from the order page. The seller's payout is paused while a person at Lotzo reviews it, and you may get a full or partial refund.

If you're selling

  • The buyer pays before they get your address. Your exact address is shared only once their payment has gone through.
  • No cash, no haggling at the door. The price is the winning bid, already paid.
  • The code proves the handover. Once you enter it, you're paid automatically 48 hours later if no problem is reported. You don't have to wait for the buyer to press anything.
  • Non-paying buyers don't cost you the sale. If the buyer's payment fails and they don't fix it within 24 hours, the order is cancelled and you can list the item again in one click.
  • A fair hearing. If a buyer reports a problem, we hear from both sides before deciding.

What isn't covered

Protection covers sales paid through Lotzo. If you pay or get paid outside Lotzo, for example in cash, we can't help with that sale. See the Terms of Service for the details.
